Fewer Accidents After Improvements to Highway Intersection Near Roscoe

The Law Firm Newswire reports that the number of accidents at "Destruction Junction," the intersection of US Highway 84 and Interstate 20 between Roscoe and Sweetwater, has dropped from 30 last year to 10 this year.

This particular stretch of highway has a terrible reputation and one of the highest accident rates in the State of Texas.
— Brooks Schuelke, Attorney

Everyone familiar with the infamous intersection will be pleased with the news. The reputation of the intersection is certainly well known to local residents, resulting in complaints to the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) as reported by KTAB in October, 2014.

Brooks Schuelke, an Austin attorney said, "This particular stretch of highway has a terrible reputation and one of the highest accident rates in the State of Texas." Among the 30 accidents recorded in eight months in 2013, were at least two deaths. Repeated accidents have also taken a toll on the bridge requiring that it be rebuilt twice. The article also outlines several of the improvements made to the roads and bridge.

The drop in the number of accidents from 30 to 10 is dramatic. It is certainly an improvement. And while 10 accidents at one intersection in a year's time still seems like too many, this is certainly welcomed news.
